Les Cles

I was on a train going from Lyon to Paris when I observed the person sitting next to me pull out a set of keys from his pocket. As I watched him put his belongings from his pocket onto a table it occurred to me that I have not had a set of keys since December 22nd. Over two months without keys (home, mailbox, vehicle, etc…) means living out of a suitcase for 10 plus weeks and sleeping in 5 different locations and 2 different floors (soon to be 3). What kind of person lives without keys for that long? I feel like a vagabond moving from place to place. I’m starting to feel like Eyton Shander, the legend from Gettysburg who lived off the land for 5 years in multiple locations between NYC and Washington DC. Fortunately I’m within 2 weeks (in my estimation) of starting an internship and settling in one place. This is the first time in my life that I’m looking forward to stability…Yuck.
